FAQs
How are you different than family offices?
Kairos is not a family office. Family offices are often focused on “chronos,” or efficiency and wealth. Kairos is focused on relationships, love, people, faith, and the many other things difficult to measure but important to many. We may come alongside your current team and ensure they are focused on the goals that you have for yourself, your family and your faith.
How do you do what you do?
We listen first. Our principals have each conducted over 10,000 meetings focused on goal setting and “digging deep.” Every person has a different path and journey. We have found it to be efficient to spend some time at the “trail head” to ensure we are going down the right path.
Why do I need Kairos?
We are biased, but we feel everyone seeks Kairos in some form. From the mogul in the high rise to the homeless on the street. Kairos has been defined in many different terms: Peace of Mind, “Clicking”, Loving, “On the Same Page.” The luxury of wealth often provides the space to be able to work and converse on these topics but also creates strain as people seek to participate in that wealth.
How long do you work with someone?
As long as it is valuable. Relationships are an important aspect of Kairos. There are many family counselors and family coaches who can get the family into a room for one or two years, but sooner or later that person is fired or wears the family out trying to keep them on an agenda. Kairos coordinates relationships instead of providing direct advice. We have found this to be a valuable principle that many families don’t receive.
How do I know it is working?
An important aspect of Kairos is increasing communication amongst the ones you love. Change in relationships often is difficult and takes long spans of time. At Kairos, our job is to help you embrace the transition so the changes are anticipated and welcome. Depending on how you define Kairos, it may take a while to be able to perceive it is working, but the transition to the change will also feel natural and therefore something to focus on and embrace. In other words, it is work that “feels right”.
How do you charge for your service?
Kairos charges on a quarterly subscription. We operate on a fee-for-service basis. As your need for our service ebbs and flows, so will our fees.
What if I want to stop working with Kairos?
Kairos client arrangements are ratified on a quarterly basis. You can choose to not renew when you wish. If you choose to resume with Kairos it will be subject to advisor availability.
Do I have enough wealth to work with Kairos?
Wealth is deployed in many different ways. If you regularly pay an attorney, tax professional, coach but see potential for improved results, we may be of service to you.
My wealth is tied up in my businesses, can I still work with Kairos?
Yes, Kairos is a fee-for-service company. We do not manage any assets and therefore are not concerned what form your assets are in.
Can I keep my advisors and work with Kairos?
Yes! Kairos advisors are often asked to coordinate professional advisors. We can recommend professional advisors who are subject to a rigorous and periodic oversight process, or work with the advisors you already have in place.
What if I have family secrets I don’t even tell my advisors?
We find family secrets to be very common amongst our clients. This often arises as life can have personal challenges you do not want your professional advisors to know about. Kairos has the professionals in place who can help coordinate and direct your current advisors without the necessity to explain exactly what is going on. Often, to find kairos, we need to deal with our familial strengths and weaknesses. We seek to provide a safe place that can be a filter to your sophisticated professionals.
What makes kairos so contagious?
People who witness a kairos moment often want to know how, why, and where to obtain it. Kairos moments are not only emotional but physiological. We would love to further discuss this with you.
